PAF promotes market for 7500 craftspeople

KATHMANDU: Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) has promoted the market for selling the products of some 7,500 craftspeople under its market promotion for conflict-survivors' products project.

PAF has stated that it has promoted the market for products manufactured by the craftspeople through 365 production groups and 10 production associations. Each group comprises between 20 to 25 entrepreneurs/crafts persons.

PAF has also operated 10 cooperatives centres to support the craftspersons. The project is implemented in Dailekh, Dang, Dhanusha, Terhathum, Kapilvastu, Myagdi, and Gorkha districts with the cooperation of the Japan Social Development Fund and management of the World Bank.

Executive Director of PAF, Nahakul KC said, the project has helped supplement the income and enhance the skills of the craftspeople in these districts.

Most of the beneficiaries of the project include women, people with disabilities, conflict-affected people, and people from disadvantaged communities.
