Prachanda elected Unified CPN-M’s leader in CA

Kathmandu, Jan. 28:

A meeting of the Unified CPN (Maoist) parliamentary party today elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as the leader of the parliamentary party. The meeting was convened at the Unified CPN-Maoist’s parliamentary party office.

The meeting that convened for the first time after the unification of the CPN-Maoist and the CPN-Unity Centre Masal, nominated Post Bahadur Bogati as the Chief Whip of the parliamentary party and Jayapuri Gharti as the whip.

“The statute of the Unified CPN-Maoist’s parliamentary party was presented in the meeting and the activities carried out until now by the parliamentary party were reviewed,” said Barshaman Pun ‘Ananta’, leader of the party and Constituent Assembly member.

He added that Prime Minister Prachanda and the parliamentary party leader had instructed the CA members of the party to thoroughly prepare for an effective presentation in the Legislature-Parliament debates and discussions. He also pointed out the need for allocating more time and extra effort for the drafting of the new constitution.

Discussions were also held on how to make the parliament more effective at the meeting where the CA members expressed their views on the topic.

The next meeting of the Unified CPN-Maoist parliamentary party will take place on February 2.
