New Supreme Court justices take oath
KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Monday appointed 11 persons as justices at the Supreme Court. Chief Justice Sushila Karki administered the oath of office and secrecy to them amid a function in the presence of the President Bhandari at the Sheetal Niwas today itself.
The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee on Sunday had endorsed the names of Deep Kumar Karki, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sharada Prasad Ghimire, Mira Khadka, Bishwambar Prasad Shrestha, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, Hari Krishna Karki, Anil Kumar Sinha, Prakash Man Singh Raut and Sapana Pradhan Malla for the apex court judgeship.
Also present on the oath-taking ceremony were Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Onsari Gharti, ministers, chiefs of constitutional bodies, Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi, Attorney General Hari Phunyal, justices at the Supreme Court and Appellate Courts, secretaries at the different ministries and chiefs of the security bodies.
