KATHMANDU, AUGUST 22

President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha amid a special ceremony held at Shital Niwas, today.

Vice President Ramsahay Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanaraj Gurung, heads of constitutional bodies, justices of the Supreme Court, and high-ranking officials of the Nepal Government were present in the ceremony.

President Paudel appointed Shrestha as the Chief Justice on Monday on the recommendation of the Judicial Council as per Article 129(2) of Nepal's Constitution. The Parliamentary Hearing Committee had unanimously endorsed Shrestha for the position of Chief Justice just on Monday.

CJ Shrestha was born in Doti district on October 6, 1959 and is a permanent resident of Dhangadhi in Kailali. He is currently residing in Kuleshwor, Kathmandu. He is set to enter mandatory retirement on October 5, 2024.
