President to visit India

Kathmandu, April 22

As her maiden foreign trip, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari is all set to embark on an official visit to India starting May 9 at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee.

The president’s foreign affairs expert Madan Kumar Bhattarai confirmed the visit, but said the details of her itinerary were yet to be finalised.

Meanwhile, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs of India Vikas Swarup said during a regular press briefing that President Bhandari and President Mukherjee will meet at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on May 10.

She will also meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the very day.

From New Delhi, President Bhandari will head for Ujjain of Madhya Pradesh, where she would observe a month-long Simhastha Kumbh Mela on May 12.
