CA Chair meets President, invites to function for promulgation of new constitution
KATHMANDU: Constituent Assembly Chairperson Subas Chandra Nembang on Tuesday morning informed President Dr Ram Baran Yadav about the arrangements made for the commencement of new constitution, which the sovereign body is currently endorsing, and invited him to make announcement of the announcement of new constitution.
Nembang went to meet the head of the state at the President's House in Sheetal Niwas this morning.
The CA is currently holding voting process to endorse the articles of the Revised Bill of new constitution. After the ongoing process concludes, the CA will formally promulgate the new charter.
An official ceremony for the commencement of Nepal's new constitution is scheduled to be held at the CA hall on Sunday, September 20.
Nembang, who wanted to meet President Ram Baran Yadav on Monday evening, could not do so as the Office of the President told him that the time that the former sought for appointment clashed with the President’s scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala.
Amid speculations that the President would have deliberately avoided meeting the CA chairman to express his dissatisfaction, the President's press adviser Rajendra Dahal maintained that it was not the case.
“There is no question of turning down CA chair’s request for a meeting,” he said. According to him, the CA chair wanted to meet the President at 7:00 pm but the Office of the President had already scheduled his meeting with the Prime Minister.
PM Koirala’s meeting with the President, however, could not take place yesterday evening.
