President’s official website hacked, down for hours
KATHMANDU: The official website of Nepal’s President, presidentofnepal.gov.np, has been hacked. A group of hackers that identified itself as “Anonymous #opnep” claimed the responsibility for the hacking on its Facebook page on Saturday.
The site was down for hours and the home page showed that the site was last updated on Wednesday, July 8. It left a message asking the webmaster to “patch up the security”.
Section Officer of the Office of the President Dashrath Rai said, “It appeared that the website was hacked but I cannot confirm it unless our team informs us.”
The hacker, on its Facebook page, has asked the US Embassy in Kathmandu to secure everything on the site, saying the latter’s database was under its control.
