Pressure must to realise CA: ANNISU-R chief
Kathmandu, August 5 :
President of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union -Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) Lekhnath Neupane today said formation of a constituent assembly will not be possible without exerting pressure on political parties and authorities concerned.
Neupane said this while addressing an interaction on “Role of private educational institutions for the constituent assembly without condition” organised by the Kathmandu district committee of ANNISU-R.
Neupane said ‘one crore’ people who took to the streets during the people’s movement have demanded a republican Nepal and therefore nation should go for a republican set-up.
Citing refusal by the Nepali Congress parliamentary committee to accept the eight-point agreement following opposition by the US, Neupane claimed that Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala was not ruling the nation.
While addressing some 200 founders, principals and teachers of the private and boarding schools of Kathmandu district, Neupane lauded the need of a joint struggle to resolve the nations’ problems.
Educationist Laxman Rajbanshi raised concern over the recent political development claiming that conspiracies were being hatched against constituent assembly.
Rajbanshi further said schools should make students aware of the mandate given by the recent movement.
ANNISU-R treasurer Yubaraj Chaulagain said time had come to take to the streets by forming republican fronts. He said state should address the problems of private schools. “We can’t stop the trend of privatisation and competition but they should be guided by certain criteria and limitations,” he said.
