KATHMANDU: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Monday expressed concern about deaths due to the cold spell in Tarai districts.

According to a press statement issued by the Office of the President, the head of state drew the government’s attention to the deaths due to cold wave and diarrhoeal diseases that have spread in hill districts of the western region.

The president also urged non-governmental organisations, civil society, the private sector and commoners to join hands with the government for relief and rescue work.

President Bhandari also expressed sorrow over the deaths and wished speedy recovery of those undergoing treatment. — HNS
