PM concerned about House obstruction
Kathmandu, July 13
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the Parliament should not stall its proceedings because of the obstruction caused by one or two lawmakers.
The PM said this during a meeting with Province 3 lawmakers. “Parliamentary proceedings should not be halted just because a few persons rise from their chair for flimsy reasons,” the PM said.
According to a press release issued by the PM’s Private Secretariat, the PM said that the Parliament was the place to debate development and public interest issues and such a platform should not be used to suit somebody’s vested interests.
“Nepali Congress raises minor issues and a few of their lawmakers rise from their chairs forcing the Parliament to stall its proceedings. But from now on, such things should not be allowed and parliamentary proceedings should not be affected just because a few lawmakers rise from their chairs,” the release quoted the PM as telling the lawmakers.
The PM said his government commanded a two-thirds majority in the House and the ruling party lawmakers needed to strongly defend their stances.
The PM said the party unification process would be completed within the next one month by forming party committees at local levels which will facilitate the work of local levels.
