Probe into cheating of Dutch national begins

Kathmandu, January 30:

The Dutch national, who was robbed of Rs 80,000 on January 10 after his debit card was stolen, has said the police has started an investigation into the crime.

AVCM, the victim, told this daily: “I found out that Rs 80,000 had been withdrawn from my account at the Standard Chartered Bank with the help of the stolen card. The bank has seized the debit card now.”

The physically-disabled Dutchman has been staying in a rented house at Nayabazaae since his arrival in Nepal on November 20. He is affiliated with the Diamond Group, a social organisation working for disabled people.

“We have filed a complaint with the Tourist Police and the case has been forwarded to the District Police Office,” Ramkumar Thapa, who has been supporting AVCM for the past three years, said: “Probe into the crime has started.”
