Project to promote dairy farming

Kathmandu, July 21:

Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC) and Department of Livestock Services (DLS) jointly launched a Dairy Cattle Improvement Project (DCIP) to promote artificial Insemination (AI) in cattle.

Under the 20-month project, artificial insemination service would be expanded to eight districts — Ilam, Morang, Chitwan, Rupendhei, Kaski, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur

The project is funded by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations and is aimed at benefiting the dairy farmers of Nepal.

Project coordinator Dr Sri Ram Neupane said that the main aim of the project was to transfer improved technology to the farmers through NARC and DLS.
