Protests against VP on

Kathmandu, July 26:

Students in the Kathmandu Valley continued to stage protests against Vice-President Paramananda Jha’s act of taking the oath of office and secrecy in Hindi language.

Students staged protests outside their colleges in Thamel, Chabahil, Minbhawan, Balaju and other parts of the valley.

“Students burnt effigies of Jha at Chabahil, Minbhawan and Thamel,” said central committee member of ANNFSU Bal Gopal Upadhyay.

The students have been demanding that the Vice-president Jha either apologise for taking the oath in Hindi or resign. Upadhyay said six students of Minbhawan Campus, including president of its Free Students Union, Ram Krishna Ghimire, were arrested for protesting against Jha yesterday. They were released later.

The central committee meet of All Nepal National Independent Students Union-R has supported the protest of students, demanding that Jha apologise to the Nepalis and take the oath again in Nepali.
