PSC urged to make exams more scientific

KATHMANDU: The State Affairs Committee of the Legislature-Parliament has instructed the Public Service Commission (PSC) to adopt measures to make civil service exams more scientific.

A meeting of the Committee on Thursday issued a directive towards this end, stating that the PSC had got its jurisdiction expanded with the promulgation of the new Constitution.

Hence, it needed to adopt modern technology in the examination, they added.

Many posts of village development committee (VDC) secretaries have lied vacant and they must be fulfilled on time, the meeting stressed, deciding to draw the attention of the PSC as well as the government towards this end.

After the meeting, Committee Chair Dil Bahadur Gharti briefed the media that the meeting also directed the government to immediately release the budget as demanded by the PSC to rebuild its infrastructures damaged by the last year's earthquake.

It may be noted that in the previous meeting of the Committee, PSC Chair Umesh Mainali had presented the Commission's future course of action and its vision.
