Public campus teachers jump on stir bandwagon

Kathmandu, February 15:

Public Campus Teachers’ Association (PUCTA) today announced a six-day long protest, alleging the government of denying the establishment of ‘Nepal Public University’.

Issuing a press statement today, PUCTA said that the government had ignored their demands

despite their repeated requests to make the posts of public campus professors permanent and setting them with new standards.

The association urged the government to establish the new university to incorporate the demands of the public campus teachers and students.

It said that the government had not responded even though they had set a deadline on February 11.

The release further stated that the protest programme was organised to draw the attention of the government.

According to the statement, they would publicise their demands on February 24 and submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Chief District Office about their phase-wise protest programmes on February 25. The teachers will organise pen down pen down programme on February 27.

According to the PUCTA, campus chiefs, professors and members of campus management committee will also gherao the Ministry of Education.

The statement said that a meeting of Nepal Public Campus Association and Public Campus Professors Association held here yesterday had decided on the protest programmes.
