Public-private tie-up stressed for urban development
Lalitpur, August 1:
Vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission Jagadish Chandra Pokharel today said that programmes under the public-private partnership could be effective in bringing about urban development.
Inaugurating a three-month training on public private partnership (PPP) programme, Pokharel said, “The unequal distribution of resources and technology in the urban areas is a great challenge for the government and, therefore, this training will help develop skilled human resource to handle all these issues.”
Officials from municipalities, people from various industries, stakeholders concerned and others will be trained during the programme.
Sanjaya Upreti, the training coordinator, said the training aims to inform local bodies, non government organisations, private sectors and all the stakeholders concerned about the PPP programme. “The objective of the training is to improve the urban environment.”
