PM directs MoFA to rescue Nepalis stranded abroad
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately rescue Nepalis stranded abroad, including in Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
Dahal telephoned Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi today and directed him to carry out the rescue works, according to the PM's Secretariat.
"It has been reported that hundreds of Nepalis in Saudi Arabia and around 45 Nepali women in Sri Lanka are left high and dry," the PM's Secretariat quoted Dahal as telling the Secretary, "Please check the situation and arrange relief, employment and deportation to Nepal immediately."
Dahal also directed the Ministry to coordinate with the Nepali missions in the respective nations and the governments there for the rescue.
In response, Bairagi said he would immediately look into the issue, according to the Secretariat.
