Nepal commits to rolling out transitional justice as per int'l norms
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday told UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Nepal, Valerie Julliand, that Nepal was committed to rolling out transitional justice in accordance to the international laws and policies.
The PM stated so while receiving the UN Nepal Chief at his office in Singha Durbar today, informed the PM's Secretariat.
In the meeting, Julliand had expressed her curiosities regarding transitional justice bodies including the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).
In response, PM Dahal informed her that Nepal's peace process was original and progress-oriented.
He also lauded the role of the UN in Nepal's peace process and post-earthquake reconstruction requesting the same in the future endevours as well.
The UN representative also acknowledged the progress made in the reconstruction efforts after the formation of the Dahal-led government and expressed her commitment to help Nepal in every way possible, the PM's Secretariat added.
Julliand also proposed PM Dahal to organise a mini-conference of the donor nations that have helped Nepal in its developmental works.
