Rahul Gandhi leaves for Lhasa via Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: President of Indian National Congress (INC) Rahul Gandhi has left for the capital of Tibet, Lhasa on Saturday afternoon.

Gandhi flew to Lhasa at around 1:00 pm from Tribhuvan International Airport. Details of this visit have been kept under wraps due to security reasons.

Rahul Gandhi is set to undertake a 12-day pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar. Earlier, it was being said that Rahul Gandhi would leave for Mansarovar via Nepalgunj. However, he flew to China directly from Kathmandu.

The INC President had landed here in Kathmandu on Friday afternoon.

Gandhi's visit coincided with his political rival Narendra Modi's two-day official stay in Nepal. The latter wrapped up his visit and returned home on conclusion of the 4th BIMSTEC Summit on Friday, same day the Gandhi scion arrived in Kathmandu.
