Raids aimed at scuttling CA polls: YCL

Kathmandu, February 7:

The Young Communist League (YCL) today said that yesterday’s raid was a ploy to avert the upcoming Constituent Assembly polls by the pro-royalists.

Organising a press conference at its central office Buddhanagar today, the YCL condemned the raid at its offices.

President of YCL, Ganesh Man Pun, said the pro-royalist leaders who were talking of revoking the 1990 constitution were misusing the Home administration to raid the YCL offices. According to Pun, four YCL cadres sustained serious injury on their heads at Balkumari of Lalitpur during the scuffle, while many others were injured. Claiming that the raid had breached the Comprehensive Peace Accord, he sought “clarifications” on the issue from the Prime Minister and the Home ministers. “The Home Ministry should answer us about the raid,” he said demanding that the people who were misusing the power should be punished.

YCL also organised a meet at Ratna Park to protest the raids. Speaking at the function, Maoist leader Hit Man Shakya, said the NC was afraid of the popularity of CPN Maoist and was trying to spoil the environment of CA polls. YCL in-charge of the Newa Rajya Samiti, Sagar, said the YCL would attack NC offices, if the party repeated such activities. “We would head towards Singh durbar and Baluwatar if the government raided our offices again,” he added.
