Rain, snow in offing, says Met Office

Kathmandu, December 2

The Kathmandu Valley experienced cloudy weather today with the weather in the western region of the country deteriorating due to the westerly trough.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the westerly trough is slightly moving towards east and thus the weather in the central and the eastern region of the country deteriorated in the late afternoon.

There are chances of brief rainfall tonight at a few places in the western region, at one or two places in the central region, including the Valley, and eastern region.

Chances of light to moderate snowfall are also forecast in the high mountainous region of the country. The MFD has advised trekkers as well as mountain flights to be cautious given the weather condition.

“The weather in the western region of the country will improve slightly from tomorrow but the eastern and central regions of the country will be cloudy with chances of rain in the hills and the Tarai along with snowfall in the high mountainous region,” it said.

Despite chillness of the day, today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 10.3 degrees Celsius, above the average of 3.7 degree Celsius of the season in the Valley.

The minimum temperature is expected to plummet to 5-7 degree Celsius tomorrow.
