A meeting of the Rajparishad Standing Committee today decided to offer gratitude to King Gyanendra for the royal proclamation that he made today that “reflects the spirit and aspirations of all the Nepali people.”

The members of the committee expressed their commitment to abide by this historical step taken by the king with all its heart and soul.

The committee chairperson Parsunarayan Chaudhary presided over the meeting.

Meanwhile, the general public today expressed their happiness over the royal proclamation by voluntarily taking out processions in some places.

Public life in the capital and at various places outside the valley was normal, the home ministry has said.

Movement of people in public places increased while the general public continued with their day-to-day activities.
