RR Campus fails to hold FSU election

Kathmandu, March 6

The free students union election scheduled for today at Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus on Exhibition Road was not held owing to obstruction by police.

"The election committee members including myself were barred by security personnel from entering the campus citing an order from the high level," said Nirmala Kumari Suwal, campus chief at Ratna Rajya Campus.

Further, Nirmala Kumari Suwal added said preparations for the student union elections planned for today were however complete.

The campus chief said all of them were ready to hold the student organisations' election and that the students received no letter whatsoever that mentioned the obstruction of election, she said.

Meanwhile, a writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court demanding that the election be rescheduled.

A Masters' Level student of the Population Department, and contestant for the chair of the FSU filed the petition making Kathmandu District Administration Office, the campus chief and election officer the defendants.
