KATHMANDU: A recruitment agency operator was arrested on Wednesday for swindling many with a promise to offer them lucrative jobs in Brunei.

Ghanshyam Aryal (38) of Gulmi was arrested from Anamnagar of Kathmandu for swindling 30 people including one Deepak Prasad Neupane of Rs 13 million.

Aryal operates the Elan International Pvt Ltd at Naya Baneshor.

Victims of the fraud including Neupane had lodged a complaint at the Metropolitan Crime Division against Neupane, forcing police to swing into action.

From the preliminary investigation, police informed that he had forged visa papers and demanded the money from them.

Meanwhile, the MCD has sent the fraudster to the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku, for further investigation.

Further investigation into the case is underway, police added.
