Registration of new education consultancies unlikely soon

Kathmandu, February 5

The government is unlikely to reopen registration of new education consultancies anytime soon. The government had halted registration of new education consultancies in June last year.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Baikuntha Aryal said people who wished  operate new education consultancies would have to wait for some time as the government had not yet decided whether they would fall under the jurisdiction of the federal or provincial government.

“The government is working to formulate new regulations and there are certain issues that need to be resolved before allowing registration of new education consultancies. It might take some time, until we come up with a new policy,” said Aryal, adding that the new regulations would also ensure credibility of existing educational consultancies. A total of 2,256 education consultancies are operating in the country.
