KATHMANDU: The Tharuhat Tarai Party, Nepal (TTPN) today condemned the arrest of former General Secretary of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) and Janajati activist Aang Kaji Sherpa.

Issuing a press statement, Chairman of TTPN Bhanuram Chaudhary said plainclothesmen manhandled and arrested Sherpa from Sherpa Gumba of Boudha without reason.

Chaudhary said Sherpa is a daring activist who has been raising his voice against suppression of indigenous nationalities in the country. “Aang Kaji’s arrest is a violation of human rights. Hence, he should be released unconditionally,” he said.
