Remove Biraj Bista from Cabinet, DPM Thapa's RPP-Nepal writes to PM
KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa's Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal has formally asked Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to remove Assistant Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Biraj Bahadur Bista from the Cabinet.
Earlier, the party had asked Bista to put in papers claiming he did not follow the party guidelines and expressed public statements against the party and the government.
After Bista did not quit, the party wrote to the Prime Minister today to effect implementation of the party decision, according to Thapa's press advisor Mohan Shrestha.
The RPP-Nepal claimed that Bista was acting against interests of the party.
The party recently had removed Bista's father, Keshar Bahadur Bista, from the responsibility of co-chairmanship after he made a public statement that the party should leave the government as the government could not address agendas raised by the party.
Earlier in February, the Thapa-led RPP-Nepal had sacked the party's spokesperson, Bishnu Bhattarai, accusing him of working against the party's interests after he criticised the party leadership for not raising the voice for revival of monarchy in the country.
With the slogan of revival of the Hindu kingdom, RPP-Nepal had won 24 seats, all from the proportional representation category, in the 2013 elections to emerge as the fourth largest party in the Parliament.
