Respect Nepali Army’s privacy: CoAS

Kathmandu, May 25

Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri today said serving and retired army officers should take note of national security sensitivity as well as the privacy and image of the Nepali Army while publishing their write-ups, biographies and autobiographies, said the Department of Public Relations of Nepali Army.

In an interaction with government attorneys, senior bureaucrats, and high-ranking officials and former chiefs of the NA at Tribhuvan Army Officers Club today, Gen Chhetri also took exception to the content of recently published autobiographies of former generals, sources said.

Former army chiefs Rukmangud Katawal and Chhatra Man Singh Gurung as well as former lieutenant general Bibek Shah have published their autobiographies in recent years. They have also disclosed information about some of their activities as the heads and senior officials of the NA.

Attorney General Hari Phuyal, Defence Secretary Mahesh Prasad Dahal, all principal staff officers of the NA, among others, participated in the interaction. The DPR said the programme was organised to make public the recent activities of the NA and its views on the role of Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
