Robbery in Lalitpur

A group of at least 10 armed persons looted property worth Rs 150,000 from two houses at Dhapakhel-1, Lalitpur, yesterday evening. According to the Lalitpur sub-branch of the Valley Crime Investigation Branch, the gang of masked looters who introduced themselves as Maoists looted cash and jewellery from the houses of Kamal Giri and Panchabir Chemjong after overpowering the family members. “A group of around 10 masked persons broke into our house and asked us to keep quite by showing pistols and khukuris,” said Samjhana Giri, daughter of Kamal. She said the looters made away with Rs 5,000 and five tolas of gold jewellery from the house. After looting Giri’s house, the gang entered the nearby house of Panchabir Chemjong. Police said the gang looted Rs 9,000 cash, five tolas of gold and 15 tolas of silver jewellery from there. “The looters could be disguised Maoists,” police said.
