Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that policy based on intensive study and research plays an important role for the overall development of a country.

Lauding the role played by research institutes in the drafting of research-based policies, he emphasized that the role of research institutes or think tanks is more important in the development of a developing country like Nepal.

In a message sent to mark the 4th anniversary of the Policy Research Institute here today, he has said only evidence-based policies can contribute to the overall development of the country by fulfilling the needs of the people as well as enhancing good governance as specified by the constitution of the country. Strengthening democracy in the country, protecting national interests and addressing people's expectations requires practical, reliable, quality and enforceable policies, and in-depth study and research are required to formulate such policies. Government of Nepal has formed an autonomous policy research institute", Prime Minister Deuba has mentioned.

On the occasion, he also expressed the commitment of the government to provide more support in the future for the development and strengthening of the PRI's capacity.

Prime Minister Deuba has wished for the progress of the institute in the future by considering the needs and realities of the country in formulating policies that can bring transformational changes in the development of the country and provide policy support that will guide the government on various important issues.
