Ruling parties form high-level team for talks with UDMF
KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition on Sunday formed a three-member 'high-level' talks team to negotiate with the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).
UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal heads the team while CPN-UML senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal and Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa are its members.
After the formation of new team, the existing talks team led by RPP-N Chairman, also the Deputy Prime Minister, Thapa has been dissolved.
A meeting of the coalition leaders in the High Level Political Coordination Committee held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar formed the panel, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported.
The HLPCC is reportedly planning to invite the main opposition Nepali Congress to the talks team.
The UDMF has been demanding that the negotiation team should involve the Congress party also.
Meanwhile, the team and the UDMF leaders are set to hold talks today itself.
