Ruling parties, NC holding informal talks with Madhesi Morcha today

KATHMANDU: Members of the ruling coalition and the main opposition Nepali Congress are holding an informal meeting with agaitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) on Saturday.

It has been learned that the big three parties are holding the meeting with the Front to create conducive environment for the decisive talks.

The parties had called the alliance for the talks to discuss the three-point proposal drafted by them.

Earlier on Friday, the parties had drafted a three-point proposal to table during the talks with the Front.

The top leaders of the Front are due to visit New Delhi of India on Sunday to express their concerns over the ongoing agitation in Tarai with the Indian leaders.

The formal talks with the Front will be held only after the leaders of alliance returns from India, it is learned.

Though the tripartite talks were scheduled for yesterday, they could not happen after the leaders of the Front refused to sit for talks citing the government’s use of excessive force against agitators in Sarlahi on Thursday.
