Big parties one to endorse amendment bill

KATHMANDU: Major political parties including those in the ruling coalition and the main opposition Nepali Congress held a meeting on Saturday to discuss endorsement of the Constitution Amendment Bill from the Parliament.

They decided that the Bill get endorsed today so as to address maximum demands of the protesting United Democratic Madhesi Front.

The meeting agreed to endorse the Bill with some changes in its language, reported the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

The three-member task force comprising a leader each of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist was assigned with making the changes.

Leaders of the ruling CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist, Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal and Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic were present in the meeting along with the NC.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar.

The Parliament meeting has been called for 3 pm today and it is expected to endorse the Bill with the two thirds majority.

The House had concluded deliberations over the Bill on Friday.
