SAARC meet on drug smuggling

Kathmandu, September 13 :

The third meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Coordination Group of Narcotic Drug Law Enforcement Agencies kicked off in the capital today. Representatives from all SAARC member states are attending the two-day meeting. There are 17 participants from Nepal.

However, Afghanistan is not taking part in the meeting. Umesh Mainali, the secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, said the problem of drugs smuggling is the same in all the member countries.

“There is a problem in curbing smuggling and peddling of narcotic drugs as there are no proper laws,” he said.

The meeting will discuss such problems.
