KATHMANDU, JULY 29

Sajina Rai, Program Director and Research Fellow at the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA), has joined the Scientific Council of COP29 Presidency as a Board Member. According to the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA) Rai joined the council at the invitation of ADA University, the main academic partner of the COP29 Presidency.

Led by ADA University, the council comprises 20 members from various geographic regions. The council will engage in numerous activities, including scientific conferences, monthly seminars with students and youth, a summer school, online sessions and discussions, pre-COP forums, Troika format meetings, and media and social media engagement.

The council aims to unite universities and think-tanks worldwide to enhance awareness and access to scientific research, including contributions from the IPCC. Its goals include supporting the COP29 process, promoting scientific discussions at COP29, empowering and involving youth and students, and conducting training and outreach activities, the AIDIA stated in the release.

The council's first meeting was held virtually on Friday, July 26. ADA University will continue to support the Scientific Council in the coming years to enhance research and outreach efforts, with plans for the council to eventually become a permanent center, the statement added.
