Saptari flood victims to get relief amount Rs 25,000 each family

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to provide a relief amount of Rs 25,000 per family to the Saptari flood victims.

Meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of Prime Minister in Singha Durbar also decided to provide the victims soft loan of Rs 1.5 million for managing accommodation.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba during his recent inspection at various flood-hit areas in the district had pledged to provide the relief amount, soft loan and other necessary facilities.

Out of the relief amount, Rs 15,000 is meant to construct makeshift hut for the victims and the remaining will be used to purchase corrugated sheets.

Two weeks ago, more than 1,500 houses of more than dozen villages were inundated in Kanchanpur, Tirahut, Rupani, Tilathi Koiladi and Krishnasabaran rural municipalities in the district due to incessant rainfall.

The meeting also appointed Dinesh Bhattarai as foreign affairs advisor to PM Deuba, informed Finance Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
