KATHMANDU, JANUARY 25
The Supreme Court (SC) has declined to issue an interim order in a writ petition filed by Reshamlal Chaudhary, patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal, seeking permission to contest the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections.
A single bench, presided over by Justice Balkrishna Dhakal, issued a show-cause notice while refusing to grant the interim order.
The next hearing of the case is scheduled for January 29.
Chaudhary had filed the petition on Friday, challenging the Election Commission's decision to cancel his candidacy.
The Election Commission had scrapped the nomination paper submitted by Chaudhary as a candidate for constituency no. 1 in Kailali after investigating a complaint lodged against him.
