SC fiat against govt grant to disqualified Maoist combatants
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the government's decision to grant Rs 200,000 each to the disqualified Maoist combatants.
A single bench of Justice Gopal Parajuli issued an interim order in the name of the government not to implement the decision.
"Do not implement the point number 19 of the Budget for the Fiscal year 2073-74 BS (2016-17 AD) for now," the apex court ruling reads.
On last August 15, as many as 131 conflict survivors including Gyanendra Raj -- son of Tikaraj Aran of Puranagaun, Ramechhap, who was killed by the Maoists during the armed conflict -- had filed a writ at the apex court, challenging legality of the government's decision to provide grant to the disqualified Maoist combatants.
The Supreme Court has called a meetign of the the stakeholders for a meeting on September 30 to discuss the matter.
