SC hauls up government on LPG crisis

Kathmandu, October 20:

The Supreme Court on Monday summoned the government authorities to attend the apex

court on Sunday for a hearing on a case related to supply LPG gas in Kathmandu.

A single bench of Justice Damodar Prasad Sharma issued the order to the Prime Minister’s Office and Cabinet, Ministry of Commerce and Supplies, the NOC and the LPG Association.

The bench was responding to a PIL seeking its intervention for the smooth supply the LPG in the valley. Advocate Balkrishna Neupane had filed the PIL.

The SC also asked the authorities why and on what basis same charges were fixed for LPG transportation to different parts of the country. The petitioner claims that the improper transportation charge was causing shortage of LPG in the Valley.
