SC judges fume at allegations
KATHMANDU; Supreme Court Justices today said allegations levelled against them by Justice Bharat Raj Upreti are “insensitive” and “baseless”.
Upreti yesterday said that he experienced what he called “suffocation” in the SC and that he was shocked to see the “bossiness” of the justices. Legal experts have taken his statement as a “contentious language” used by a judge of the apex court.
“This is baseless,” a judge told The Himalayan Times on condition of anonymity today. Another judge of the apex court termed the remarks “coming from a dignified person” like Upreti as “insensitive”. Chief Justice Anup Raj Sharma also termed Upreti’s statement “speculative language” and a “personal feeling.” “I do not have such experience of the apex court,” Sharma told reporters after he was given a farewell by judges and court staffs. Sharma is retiring tomorrow.
President of Nepal Bar Association Prem Bahadur Khadka termed it as “contemptuous language against the Supreme Court.”
