SC nod to empower Administrative Court

The apex court also gave green signal to the government for the amendment of the Administrative Court Act for the purpose. According to an SC justice, the full court meeting of the SC justices yesterday took a decision to this regard during their discussion over the draft of the bill prepared by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
“After the provision comes into force, the civil servants do not need to move the apex court for minor decisions on promotion and departmental actions,” he added. “The civil servants can file an appeal in the Administrative Court challenging such decisions.”Earlier, such disputes those reached at the SC
had been increasing the workload.
“At least, 25 per cent workload of the SC will decrease after the provision comes into force,” Hemanta Rawal, spokesperson, SC said.
