KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court today issued show cause notices to the government regarding the removal of Dipendra Bahadur Kshetry from the post of Nepal Rastra Bank governor.

A single bench of Justice Ram Kumar Prasad Shaha issued the order to the defendants — Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Finance Minister and Ministry of Finance, Finance Secretary Rameshwor Khanal, Nepal Rastra Bank and reinstated Governor Bijaya Nath Bhattarai — over Kshetry’s ouster.

Kshetry yesterday moved the apex court seeking his reinstatement to the post. The bench also called the defendants to present themselves in the SC to discuss whether or not to issue an order to stay the implementation of the Cabinet decision to reinstate Bijaya Nath Bhattarai.
