Kathmandu, March 18

The Supreme Court today directed the government authorities to make arrangements for the return of nine-year-old Mithun Yadav to his home in India as soon as possible.

Yadav was arrested by the police 18 days ago.

Stating that Yadav was arrested illegally, a division bench of Justices Kalyan Shrestha and Bharat Raj Upreti directed the

Kathmandu Chief District Officer and Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka, to make arrangements for his return.

The bench was responding to a public interest

litigation (PIL) lodged by advocate Rakesh Kumar Shah.

Under Nepal’s law,

no minor below 10

can be held for a criminal offence.
