SC quashes pension plea

Kathmandu, July 31:

The Supreme Court on Wednesday quashed a Public Interest Litigation that had sought an order to recognise offspring of civil servants’ daughters also as claimants of pension and provident fund.

A three-member bench of Justices Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Bal Ram KC and Kalyan Shrestha quashed the petition filed by advocate Meera Dhungana on behalf of the Forum for Women, Law and Development.

The Bonus Act and Provident Fund Act recognise children of civil servants’ sons as claimants of pension and provident fund.
