Six student leaders, including Dalit leader Man Bahadur Bishowkarma, were released today as per the order of the Supreme Court. Separate bench of judges Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Rajendra Kumar Bhandari, Dilip Kumar Paudel, Harijung Sijapati and Bhairav Prasad Lamsal and Paramananda Jha issued orders to the authorities to release Hikmat Karki, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Keshav Raj Paudel, Ram Chandra Kafle, Sabitri Shrestha and Prakash Rawal. The apex court told the government authorities, including the Home Ministry, Kathmandu District Administration Office and Kathmandu District Police Office, to set them free. The student leaders were detained after the February 1 royal move. The SC also ordered the authorities to furnish reasons on why other student leaders, including Shambhu Adhikary, Dhrubalal Pradhan, Gyanendra Sharma and Balchandra Paudel, were being detained.
