SC seeks original file on detainees
Kathmandu, February 28:
Days after the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) told the Supreme Court (SC) it had neither detained nor arrested four suspected Maoists, Ranjit Darnal, Amrit Darnal, Rajendra Chaurel and Pushpa Raj Basnet, the Supreme Court today again ordered the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to produce the original file of the case in the SC.
The NHRC had said in a report that the four had been detained in Jagadalgan and Bhairavnathgan army barracks.
Justices Paramananda Jha and Pawan Kumar Ojha issued the order on the detention of Ranjit, Amrit, Rajendra and Pushpa. Submitting explanations, legal unit chief of the RNA, BA Kumar Sharma, and chief of the Jagadalgan barracks said neither the army had held the suspects nor had it detained them.
