SC seeks reply over detention

Kathmandu, March 16:
Responding to several habeas corpus petitions, the Supreme Court today ordered the government authorities, including the Home Ministry, Kathmandu District Administration Office and Kathmandu District Police Office Hanumandhoka to furnish reasons regarding the detention of several student leaders.
Following today’s hearing, a single bench of justice Ram Nagina Singh issued a show cause notice to the authority as to why student leaders Narayan Acharya and Prawal Kumar Lama have been under detention for the past three days.
A separate bench of justice Rajendra Kumar Bhandari told the authorities to produce Thakur Gaire before the bench on the day the case is scheduled for hearing.
