SC urges govt to reinstate sacked cops

Kathmandu, October 23:

The Supreme Court today directed the government authorities —the Office of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet and the Police Headquarters — to reinstate two police inspectors who were dismissed by the cabinet six years ago for “deserting the service”.

A division bench of Justices Min Bahadur Rayamajhi and Kalyan Shrestha directed the government authorities to reinstate Laxmi Prasad Sainjhu and Kamal Chudal to the post of police inspector.

The bench said the government had dismissed them even without giving them a chance for clarification.

The government had dismissed Saijhu and Chudal after they did not join their assigned duty in Rukum and Ramechhap and remained absent from the job after filing applications for sick leave.
