Schedule for presidential poll published
Kathmandu, February 22
The Election Commission has published the schedule for the presidential election slated for March 13.
As per the schedule, the EC will make public the electoral roll on March 5 at 1:00pm. The EC has given until 8:00pm the same day for lodging complaints or revising the electoral roll.
After investigating the complaints, the EC will then publish the final electoral roll on March 6 between 10:00am and 6:00pm.
Candidates will have to file their candidacy on March 7 between 10:00am and 4:00pm. The same day at 3:00 pm, the EC will publish the names of the candidates.
The EC will accept complaints against the candidature until 2:00pm on March 8. After studying the complaints, the EC will again publish the final names of the candidates by 4:00pm. Any candidate willing to withdraw his/her candidature can do so between 4:30pm and 5:30pm. The EC will then publish the final list of candidates at 6:00pm the same day.
The election will be held on March 13 between 10:00am and 3:00pm. After all the ballot boxes are collected at the office of the election officer, counting will begin at 4:00pm the same day. The results will be published immediately after the completion of counting.
In case none of the candidates garner majority, the EC will again hold the election by announcing another date.
