School protests against media
KATHMANDU: Students and teachers of Jubilant College and Research Centre in Kalimati on Monday obstructed vehicular movement near the school protesting the wrong information disseminated by the media concerning the recent tragic event at the school. Vice-principal of the school Sanjeev Baidhya accused the media of disseminating wrong information about the tragic incident where a student of the school was found dead lying in a stream a couple of days ago.
He said the media reports of one of the school teachers being involved in the incident were completely false. He said the person arrested for masterminding the murder of the 12th grader was not a teacher of the school as reported by the media, but a private tutor of the victim.
“We request mediapersons to gather correct information before publishing it,” said vice-principal Baidhya. He said the wrong reports by the media could destroy the reputation of the school.
Khyati Shrestha, a 12th grader of JHSS, was found dead in a stream at Sainbu VDC, Lalitpur, on Sunday. She was abducted from Putalisadak about 17 days ago. Police had arrested her tuition teacher for masterminding the plot. A special police team of the Nepal Police Headquarters had found the mutilated body of Shrestha after an intensive probe following her kidnapping.
A press statement issued here today by Madhusudan Lal Ranjitkar, president of the Jubilant College and Research Centre, said they were deeply saddened by the incident and expressed deepest condolence to the victim’s family. The statement also urged the government to thoroughly investigate into the case.
